GRIT & GRACE LIFESTYLE CO.

Grit & Grace Lifestyle Co., founded by Kaila Peterson, is a moody, earthy brand that specializes in elopement photography and bespoke goods. She’s a traveling artist, taking her craft around the world capturing intimate moments for couples.

After 6 years of owning her own photography business, she wanted to hone in on her values, her overall vision, and message to the world. Moving to the Black Hills from the Pacific Northwest spring of 2021, Kaila wanted to also focus on her brand awareness within the area. All of this to be said, she was looking to truly establish herself as a brand — she was ready to lay a new foundation for the long haul!

 
 

REDISCOVERING THE VISION

Kaila’s passion for her work, and more importantly, for her clients, is oh so genuine. Her and I clicked instantly when we met, and knew that this project would be really exciting. She was nervous to take the first steps into a rebrand, but knew she needed to enter into a new chapter of her journey.

During our strategy meeting, we went over her ideal clients and who she wants to focus on as a specialist in her photographic niche. Elopements were always the sessions that ignited her fire the most out of her weddings and other family shoots, so we honed in on those types of experiences. Not only are they the most fun for her, but they give her the opportunity to travel to destinations to really give her clients the attention they deserve. It was the perfect path to follow as she continues her photographic endeavors, so we stuck with what was closest to her heart.

Being an adventure-inspired person, Kaila also wanted to display the quality of her services using her brand. Her identity’s roots stem from the deep, moody atmospheres of the Pacific Northwest as well as the Black Hills, and is refined with a clean, minimalist approach.

 

MORE THAN JUST PHOTOS

A truly catered experience means going the extra mile — and Kaila delivers with miles to spare. Not only does she travel to her elopement sessions, she creates homemade crafted goods as gifts to her clients, as well as public goods available to the public online.

Kaila’s “grit” to her grace is indeed rooted in her handmade, all-natural products. It’s a distinguishing feature of her brand that adds personality and wholesomeness to her business. Whether it’s soaps, essential oils, or custom fabrics, Kaila’s time and attention to detail make her stand out in her niche.

 

AWARENESS & CONSISTENCY

The two biggest goals Kaila wanted to make sure we accomplished were brand awareness and consistency. Through a cohesive brand identity, we’ve created a visual system that speaks to her ideal audience within the elopement photography realm, all while adapting a uniform look and feel.

Consistency is the key to being identifiable. The more the public sees the same logo, colors, and overall brand, the more it sticks.
